Cricket player Fabian Allen, a West Indies international, was the victim of a harrowing gunpoint mugging outside the team hotel in Johannesburg (South Africa).
Armed attackers targeted the 28-year-old Jamaican all-rounder(Fabian Allen), who is presently playing for the Paarl Royals team in the SA20 league, close to the Sandton Sun Hotel. The attack left the player clearly rattled.Armed with a gun, the assailants grabbed Allen’s phone and other personal items, including a bag, by force.
The event has called into question the effectiveness of the security measures in place and raised worries about the safety of players in the SA20 league.
The event has been verified by many individuals connected to the SA20, Cricket West Indies (CWI), and Paarl Royals squad.
Although Allen is said to be uninjured, the incident has raised questions over player security.
