With PV Sindhu /Ashwini & Tanisha/Dhruv & Arjun reaching quarterfinals, Indian shuttlers enjoyed a successful day in the Madrid Spain Masters.

Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu kept up her amazing streak, and Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto improved their hopes of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics by making it to the Madrid Spain Masters quarterfinals on Thursday.

Australia’s Gronya Somerville and Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-Hsun were upset by PV Sindhu, while Ashwini/Tanisha triumphed against Tiffany Ho.

Since Sindhu got off to a strong start in the opening game, she easily defeated Yu-Hsun. Sindhu rebounded well, scoring six straight points after trailing 10–11 at the half due to a few costly turnovers.

The second game was won 21-14 by Sindhu thanks to a net fault from Yu-Hsun.

Yu-Hsun had trouble controlling the shuttle in the second game because her lifts were frequently too lengthy. The Taiwanese shuttler attempted to use her placements and drops, but her smashes lacked strength.

By capitalising on her mistakes, Sindhu qualified for the quarterfinals. In the following round, she will take against Thai Supanida Katethong.

Tanisha Crasto, ranked number twenty, and Ashwini Ponnappa, ranked third, advanced to the round of eight in the women’s doubles division after winning 21-14, 21-8.

With this victory, Ashwini/Tanisha have improved their prospects of competing in the women’s doubles division in the future 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

India’s MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila had a successful day at work as well, defeating Scotland’s Christopher Grimley and Matthew Grimley 21-17, 21-19, to advance to the men’s doubles quarterfinal.
The American duo of B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy, who defeated Presley Smith and Allison Lee in mixed doubles 22–20, 21–18, also advanced to the quarterfinals.

But in another men’s doubles match, Krishna Prasad Garage and Sai Pratheek K were devastated to lose 16-21 21-15 16-21 against the Popov brothers, Christo and Toma Junior.
