MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS

The Kolkata Knight Riders have won three of the first four games of the season, which is an amazing start.

They barely defeated SRH in the first match at Eden Gardens, and they followed it up with victories away from home against RCB and DC in their following two meetings. But when they fell to CSK in Chennai, their winning run came to an end.

The Lucknow Super Giants’ path in this year’s competition hasn’t changed all that much thus far. They were defeated by the Royals in their first game in Jaipur, but they immediately recovered to win three straight games against PBKS, RCB, and GT to move up to third position in the points standings, just below Kolkata. The similarities stop there, though.

LSG has a perfect head-to-head record against KKR, having prevailed in each of the previous three meetings. While LSG will be concentrating on maintaining their supremacy, KKR will be looking to go one up on them and establish themselves against the new team.

Kolkata Knight Riders :

In two of their games, the Kolkata Knight Riders showed why they were unstoppable: against the Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

They prevailed narrowly in their first meeting at home by maintaining their composure in the face of a charging SRH. Their in-form batsmen, V Iyer, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine, have enjoyed playing on pitches where the ball has come on to the bat, which has made scoring runs easier. However, they were somewhat exposed on a slow pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium against a strong bowling attack, as the KKR batters were restricted to a below-average score by the CSK’s spinners Jadeja, Theekshana, and fast bowler Deshpande.

With help available, KKR’s spin unit was unable to take use of it and lost wickets, allowing CSK to win with 7 wickets and 14 balls remaining. KKR will be eager to play in front of home supporters as they return to the field for the first of five home games against LSG.

The Lucknow Super Giants have done incredibly well to return to the competition with three straight victories after having a dismal start to their campaign in Jaipur. They lost some of the momentum they were building up at home to the Delhi Capitals.

However, they will find solace in the knowledge that they will be playing a team that they have never lost a game against, all season long. Marcus Stoinis and Devdutt Padikkal are not playing at their best, and the middle order of the team appears to be a little weak.

After losing 7 wickets for 94 runs against DC in the thirteenth over, Ayush Badoni performed a useful knock (55 off 35) to offer LSG bowlers something to bowl at. However, it looks like the batting depends a lot on important players like KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran.

With Mayank Yadav not playing, the bowling appears to be a little lacking. No one has been able to come up and make as much of an impression as the tearaway quick, who troubled the batters of the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru with his fast-bowling.
