Lucknow Super Giants Vs Punjab Kings

MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS

Over 458 runs were scored during their most recent IPL matchup between these clubs. After LSG posted the highest-ever IPL total (257/5), Punjab Kings responded with great vigour from the first ball but ultimately lost by 56 runs.

With the exception of this run-fest, these two teams’ last two meetings had been quite standard. After chasing 160 in the final over, Kings XI prevailed in their last matchup at the Ekana stadium last year.

And LSG emerged victorious in the lone match between the two teams in the IPL 2022 at Pune, winning by a comfortable margin of 20 runs. Both clubs have a great mix of youthful energy and seasoned veterans in their ranks for this upcoming season.

This season, LSG lost their opening game to RR, while Punjab triumphed over DC but faltered against RCB in Bengaluru in their subsequent encounter. Punjab will be trying to get back on track to winning ways, and LSG will be eager to open their account.

Teams Preview –

Lucknow Super Giants :

In the first encounter with the Rajasthan Royals, LSG was a tad uncooked. Though they lost the toss, they did get off to a good start with the ball.

They were well-positioned to limit RR to a total below par after taking out the two opposing openers on the powerplay. However, their bowlers were unable to gain traction and thus let up runs in the middle overs. You must pay the price in death if you don’t strike frequently in the centre.

That day, their bowlers fared as well. With the exception of Krunal Pandya, who bowled an economical stint, the rest of the bowling lineup was unable to cause any trouble.

The batting team had their job cut out for them as they needed to chase over 200 runs to win.

But, their prospects of chasing RR down were hindered by the loss of de Kock, Padikkal, and Badoni in the first three overs. To keep LSG in the chase, though, Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul, and Nicholas Pooran got up and demonstrated their counterattacking prowess. But in the end, it was insufficient.

LSG will be hoping that their bowlers will do very well at home, since they have a lot of work to do in that area.

Lucknow Super Giants Predicted Playing XI:

KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Nicholas Pooran, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Shivam Mavi, Naveen ul Haq, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan/Ayush Badoni.

Punjab Kings :

PBKS would be pleased with their performance as they fought hard to get into the Bengaluru match against RCB.However, there are some issues.

Shikhar Dhawan had to play the anchor position cautiously since wickets were dropping often, but he was obliged to bat within himself and was unable to advance.

Despite getting starts, Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone, and Prabhsimran Singh were unable to convert these into significant runs. Shashank Singh’s late burst provided them with the necessary finish, although they had hoped for more at the bat.

An important fielding error—Bairstow letting Kohli off Curran in the second ball—turned out to be a game-changing stroke of luck as Kohli unleashed his inner chaser to lead RCB nearly to victory. Rabada and Brar did, however, bowl disciplinedly to aid Kings in regaining some momentum in the game, but it was insufficient.

In an unfamiliar ground, Harshal Patel was unable to deliver the goods, while Rahul Chahar was dismissed for 16 runs in the opening over. They will be looking to gain confidence from a strong encounter against LSG.

Punjab Kings Predicted Playing XI:

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sam Curran, Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh/Prabhsimran Singh.

Pitch & Weather Conditions:

Weather :

As the game progresses, this wicket slows down significantly, which makes spinners more important. The nighttime weather is predicted to be a little dry, and there won’t be any rain throughout the game.

Pitch Report:

The game will take place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. In their lone meeting at this location, the Punjab Kings beat the Lucknow Super Giants.

Toss: To Bat

Even though the margin of defeat in several of those games was not significant, teams that batted first won more games here in 2017 than those that chased. We assume that whichever side wins the toss should opt to bat first in order to take full advantage of the circumstances.
