What Sharjah Cricket Stadium asks of this T20

Sharjah Cricket Stadium shows its hand in the first hour. If the new ball moves, the top order has to leave. If it sits up, the opening stand can settle the day before the change bowlers arrive. Afghanistan and Zimbabwe play that surface on this date, not a generic one.

Twenty overs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium leave no time to settle. Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will be decided by the powerplay and the last four overs.

Who has to win their hour

Rashid Khan sets the field for Afghanistan. Sikandar Raza sets it for Zimbabwe. At Sharjah Cricket Stadium, that first-hour field is the plan for this T20.

Afghanistan squad to follow: Ibrahim Zadran (Batsman), Darwish Rasooli (Batsman), Mohammad Ishaq (Batsman), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Wicket Keeper), Sediqullah Atal (Batsman), Rashid Khan (All-Rounder), Azmatullah Omarzai (All-Rounder), Gulbadin Naib (All-Rounder).

Zimbabwe squad to follow: Clive Madande (Wicket Keeper), Tadiwanashe Marumani (Wicket Keeper), Dion Myers (Bowler), Sikandar Raza (All-Rounder), Brian Bennett (All-Rounder), Ryan Burl (All-Rounder), Blessing Muzarabani (Bowler), Richard Ngarava (Bowler).

Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Mohammad Ishaq carry the batting job for Afghanistan. Clive Madande, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Dion Myers carry it for Zimbabwe. In this T20 between them at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, one partnership that lasts is worth more than three starts.
